Militants from the Islamic group Al-Shabaab have launched two attacks on targeting Somali capital Mogadishu, killing at least 20 people. Gunmen and suicide bombers stormed the main law courts and suicide bombers attacked an aid convoy near the airport.

Polling stations have been opened in Venezuela as the country elects its successor to Hugo Chavez. The acting president Nicolas Maduro and his rival Henrique Capriles, have both been accused of breaking election laws.
